What is Allstate Health Solutions?
Allstate Health Solutions is an Allstate business that includes the former National General health operation. Its official disclosures identify several possible underwriting companies, including National Health Insurance Company, Integon National Insurance Company, Integon Indemnity Corporation and American Heritage Life Insurance Company.
The brand offers a range of short-term and supplemental products. That does not mean one underwriting company issues every product or that every policy is approved nationwide. The actual insurer, form number, benefits and state limitations should appear on the quote and policy documents.
A licensed O'Neal Insurance Group agent can help you compare insurance companies and plans currently available in your ZIP code and state. If an Allstate Health Solutions product is available, the agent should help you review what it covers—and what it does not cover—before you apply.
Quick facts
- Allstate Health Solutions' individual lineup includes short-term medical, accident, critical illness and dental products.
- Official materials also describe fixed-benefit, hospital expense, dental-vision-hearing and group solutions.
- Short-term medical is not the same as comprehensive Affordable Care Act coverage.
- Supplemental benefits do not replace major medical insurance or Medicare.
- A carrier's authorization in a state does not prove that a particular policy is approved there.

Comparing the coverage categories
| Coverage option | How it works | Provider access | Prescription coverage | Possible additional benefits | Important considerations |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| ACA major medical | Comprehensive individual health coverage meeting applicable ACA standards | Network varies by plan | Usually included | Preventive and essential health benefits | Enrollment periods and Marketplace eligibility rules apply. |
| Short-term medical | Temporary health coverage for an approved period | Contracted network may apply | Limited or absent | Plan-specific | Not ACA comprehensive coverage; exclusions can be significant. |
| Fixed-benefit medical | Pays a stated amount for covered services | Network discounts may be available | Not equivalent to comprehensive drug coverage | Scheduled cash or expense benefits | Medical charges can exceed policy payments. |
| Accident or critical illness | Pays for defined covered events | Usually not comprehensive network coverage | No comprehensive prescription plan | Event-based benefits | Definitions, exclusions and benefit schedules control. |
| Original Medicare | Federal Parts A and B | Providers accepting Medicare | Part D is separate | Limited supplemental benefits | Not an Allstate Health Solutions product. |
| Medicare Advantage | Private Part C coverage | Plan service area and network | Often included | Plan-specific | Current Allstate Health Solutions MA offering was not established. |
Short-term medical coverage
Short-term medical coverage is intended for temporary gaps. Examples might include waiting for new employer coverage or transitioning between plans. Eligibility and permitted duration depend on federal and state rules.
Allstate Health Solutions notes that short-term plans may not cover pre-existing conditions, mental health care or prescriptions in the same way as comprehensive health insurance. Before applying, examine the definition of a pre-existing condition, exclusions, benefit maximums, deductible, coinsurance, provider network and policy end date.
A low monthly premium does not tell the whole story. Compare what the policy pays, what you remain responsible for and whether you have another opportunity to obtain comprehensive coverage.
Fixed-benefit, accident and critical illness plans
A fixed-benefit plan pays predetermined amounts for covered services. It does not promise to pay the provider's entire charge. A hospital visit costing more than the scheduled benefit can leave a substantial balance.
Accident coverage applies to defined accidental injuries and services. Critical illness coverage applies to diagnoses that meet the policy's definitions. Review waiting periods, recurrence rules, exclusions, benefit maximums and whether payments go to the insured or an assigned provider.
These products may help with a specific financial exposure, but they should be compared as supplements rather than substitutes for comprehensive medical insurance.
Dental, vision and hearing coverage
Allstate Health Solutions markets dental and supplemental dental-vision-hearing options. Coverage can include preventive and other services, but annual maximums, waiting periods, deductibles, frequency limits and provider networks vary.
Dental, vision and hearing policies are not Parts A or B of Original Medicare. They also are not proof that a Medicare Advantage plan includes those services. A person with Medicare can buy separate coverage when available and suitable.
Medicare and legacy Medicare Supplement policies
The carrier's contact page provides service information for Medicare Supplement policies issued before January 1, 2021 under the National General brand. That servicing statement does not prove that new Allstate Health Solutions Medigap applications are currently accepted in every state—or any particular state.
Current sources reviewed for this page do not establish an Allstate Health Solutions Medicare Advantage, standalone Part D, D-SNP or C-SNP product. Accordingly, do not use Medicare Advantage benefit phrases such as Part B giveback or flex card to promote these short-term and supplemental policies.
Medicaid, Extra Help and Special Needs Plans
Medicaid, Medicare Savings Programs and Extra Help are government programs, not Allstate Health Solutions benefits. Extra Help and Low-Income Subsidy are two names for the same federal Part D assistance program.
D-SNPs and C-SNPs are Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans. Because current evidence used here does not establish Allstate Health Solutions as an SNP carrier, consumers should check Medicare.gov for Medicare-approved plans in their county. Government agencies—not agents—decide Medicaid and Extra Help eligibility.
Part B givebacks and flex cards
This page does not claim an Allstate Health Solutions Part B premium reduction or Medicare flex card. A fixed-benefit or indemnity payment is not a Part B giveback and should not be advertised as one.
Part B premium reductions, flex cards, and other supplemental benefits are not included with every Medicare Advantage plan. Availability, eligibility, benefit amounts, approved expenses, and participating locations vary by plan and service area.
Guidance for veterans
VA health care, TRICARE, Medicare and private supplemental insurance are separate systems. Short-term or fixed-benefit coverage does not replace VA health care or enroll someone in VA benefits.
Veterans should check how any policy handles VA and non-VA services, emergency care, prescriptions and provider billing. A decision that could affect military benefits should be confirmed with the VA, TRICARE or the appropriate administrator.
How a licensed agent can help
A licensed agent can help a consumer:
- Determine which Allstate Health Solutions products are approved in the state
- Identify the legal underwriting company and policy form
- Compare temporary coverage with comprehensive health alternatives
- Review deductibles, benefit schedules, exclusions and maximums
- Check provider networks and prescription limitations
- Distinguish supplemental coverage from Medicare and major medical insurance
- Complete an application after the consumer chooses a product
The agent cannot alter the policy, guarantee a claim or determine government-program eligibility.
