Start with the facts that affect your coverage
Insurance comparisons become more useful when the information is current and specific. Gather the names of your doctors and hospitals, every prescription with dosage and quantity, preferred pharmacies, your home ZIP code, and the budget questions you want answered.
Compare the whole picture
Do not look at one premium or extra benefit in isolation. Review provider access, prescription coverage, estimated annual costs, referrals, prior authorization, service area, travel preferences, and what happens if your needs change.
Use official sources for eligibility
Agents can explain and compare represented insurance plans, but Medicare, Social Security, the VA, TRICARE, and state Medicaid agencies make official eligibility decisions. Use their resources for authoritative eligibility information.
