Which of our Medicare agent offices to call

Practically speaking, it does not matter much — the toll-free number reaches the same people and most appointments happen by phone or screen share. But if you would rather deal with the office nearest you, here is how they divide up.

Las Vegas covers Clark County: Las Vegas, North Las Vegas, Henderson, Summerlin and the surrounding valley. Nevada is one of the few states with an annual birthday window letting existing Medigap policyholders switch carriers without health questions, which makes a yearly conversation genuinely worth having there.

Chicago covers Cook County and the collar counties — DuPage, Will, Lake, Kane, McHenry and Kankakee. Illinois has its own narrower version of a birthday rule for policyholders aged 65 to 75, and the plan count in Cook County is high enough that comparing by hand is difficult.

Ocean Springs covers Jackson and Harrison counties on the Gulf Coast, from Pascagoula and Moss Point across to Biloxi and Gulfport. With Keesler Air Force Base nearby, TRICARE For Life questions come up here more than anywhere else.

Hattiesburg covers Forrest and Lamar counties and the wider Pine Belt. Plan choice is narrower than in the metros, which makes the network question more decisive rather than less.

Mississippi, unlike Nevada and Illinois, has no annual switching window at all. That single difference changes how much weight your first Medigap decision carries.

Licensed well beyond the Medicare agent offices themselves

The agency is Medicare-licensed across 30 states and Washington, D.C. The four offices are where the desks are, not the limit of where we can help.

In practice most appointments happen remotely regardless of location, by phone or screen share, and nothing about the process changes. The city pages linked above exist because plan availability is genuinely local — not because you need to live near one of our Medicare agent offices to be a client.

If your city is not listed, that is not a no. Call the toll-free number and we will tell you plainly whether we are licensed where you live, and point you elsewhere if we are not.

Why your county matters more than your city

This is the thing that surprises people most, and it is the reason a national comparison site can give you a confidently wrong answer.

Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, not statewide. A plan sold in Chicago proper may not exist in Naperville. A plan available in Jackson County may not be offered in Harrison County across the bay. And even where the plan name is identical, the provider network and the drug formulary can differ.

Your permanent address decides which plans you may enroll in. So the first question in any conversation is your ZIP code and county — not your budget, and certainly not the premium.

A move is a qualifying event in its own right. If you are relocating, even within the same state, ask before you assume coverage travels with you.

What to have ready when you call

None of this is required, and an appointment is still worth having if you only have part of it.

  • Your Medicare card, for your Part A and Part B start dates
  • Your permanent ZIP code and county
  • Every doctor and specialist you want to keep, by name rather than by health system
  • Every prescription with the exact strength and how often you take it
  • Your preferred pharmacy — preferred and standard pharmacies price the same drug differently
  • Any Medicaid, Extra Help, VA, TRICARE, retiree or employer coverage you already hold

The prescription list changes the answer more than anything else on it.

One more thing worth bringing: last year’s Annual Notice of Change, if you still have it. Every Medicare Advantage and Part D plan sends one each autumn setting out exactly what will be different on January 1, and it is the fastest way to see whether your premium, your drug tiers or your out-of-pocket maximum have moved. If you have thrown it out, the plan will send another copy on request.

What it costs to use any of our Medicare agent offices

2026 Medicare costs: Part A premium free with 40 quarters and a $1,736 deductible per benefit period, Part B at $202.90 a month with a $283 deductible, and Part D capped at $2,100 a year with a maximum $615 deductible.
What Medicare costs in 2026

Nothing, and it does not affect your premium. Plan prices are set by the insurer and filed with regulators, so they are identical whether you enroll through an agent, through the carrier’s own line, or by yourself at Medicare.gov.

We are paid a commission by the insurance company when someone enrolls, at rates set by federal rules rather than by carriers competing for a recommendation. If the plan you hold is already the right one, we earn nothing from saying so — and we will still say so.

What we cannot do from any office

We do not offer every plan available in your area. We represent 30 organizations which offer over 125 products where we are licensed, and you are always free to review all of your options.

We cannot determine eligibility for Medicaid, Extra Help or a Medicare Savings Program — only your state agency and the Social Security Administration can. We cannot enroll you in Part A or Part B; that happens at ssa.gov. And we do not give medical, tax or legal advice.

Where a question belongs with a government office, you will be given the number rather than an opinion.

Questions about our Medicare agent offices

Do I have to visit in person? No. Guidance is available by phone and by online screen sharing, and most people never set foot in one of our Medicare agent offices. Confirm before planning any visit, since appointment-only hours are common.

Does it cost more to use a local office than the toll-free line? No. It is the same agency, the same licensed agents and the same plan prices either way.

I live in one state and spend winters in another. Which office? The one covering your permanent address, because that is what determines plan eligibility. Bring up the travel pattern early — it often points toward Original Medicare with a supplement rather than a network plan.

Are all plans available at every location? No. Availability depends on ZIP code, county, eligibility, carrier appointment and plan year, so two of our Medicare agent offices can honestly give different answers to the same question.

What if I am not near any of the four? The agency is licensed in 30 states and Washington, D.C. Call the toll-free number and we will tell you plainly whether that includes where you live.

Four Medicare agent offices, four very different markets

Our Medicare agent offices sit in four places that behave nothing alike. The share of beneficiaries who choose a Medicare Advantage plan over Original Medicare varies by more than twelve points across them, and that single number tells you a great deal about which plans are competing for your business and how many of them there are.

The figures below come from CMS monthly enrollment data as of May 2026. The share counts Medicare Advantage together with a small number of other private plan arrangements, which is how CMS publishes it.

Forrest County, MSHattiesburg16,20550.3%
Lamar County, MSHattiesburg10,48643.5%
CMS Medicare Monthly Enrollment, May 2026. National share: 51.2%.

Of the four cities our Medicare agent offices occupy, Las Vegas is one of the most heavily plan-penetrated markets in the country. Chicago, despite being far larger, leans much more toward Original Medicare and Medicare Supplement coverage. Look at the last two rows: Forrest and Lamar counties are adjacent, the city of Hattiesburg sits across both, and they differ by nearly seven points. People who live twenty minutes apart are making different choices because different plans are available to them.

State rules differ more than the Medicare agent offices do

Medicare itself is federal, which is why our Medicare agent offices can help you wherever you live. Medicare Supplement rules are not federal, and the differences between our states are large enough to change what we can do for you.

Nevada has a birthday rule. Beginning on the first day of your birth month, you get at least 60 days to move to a Medicare Supplement with the same or lesser benefits, with no health questions, and — this is the important part — you may move to a different insurance company. Carriers must notify you 30 to 60 days before the window opens and cannot rate you up for using it.

Illinois has a birthday rule too, and it is much narrower. The window is 45 days from your birthday, it applies only between ages 65 and 75, and you may only move within the same company or its affiliates. If you want a different insurer in Illinois, the birthday rule does not get you there.

Mississippi has neither. Outside your one-time six-month Medigap open enrollment at 65, or a federal guaranteed-issue situation, a Medicare Supplement application in Mississippi is medically underwritten. That makes the first decision matter more here than it does in Las Vegas, and it is worth understanding before you drop a policy you already hold.

Any of our Medicare agent offices can explain how this applies to you, but the answer is set by where you live rather than which number you dial.

Medicaid differs across our Medicare agent offices too

Nevada and Illinois expanded Medicaid; Mississippi has not, and expansion bills failed again in the 2026 session. For a Medicare beneficiary this shows up in the Medicare Savings Programs and in Extra Help with prescription costs, which pay Part B premiums and reduce drug costs for people under certain income and asset limits. Those programs exist in all three states, but the surrounding safety net does not, and the practical answer for a household just over the line is different in Hattiesburg than it is in Chicago.

Free help that does not come from our Medicare agent offices

Every state runs a State Health Insurance Assistance Program offering free, unbiased Medicare counseling with no product to sell. We think you should know these exist even though they compete with us, because an agency that only tells you about itself is not giving you the full picture.

  • Mississippi SHIP, through the Department of Human Services, Division of Aging and Adult Services — 844-822-4622
  • Illinois Senior Health Insurance Program, Illinois Department on Aging — 1-800-252-8966
  • Mississippi Insurance Department consumer help line, for complaints about any insurer or agent — 800-562-2957
  • Medicare directly — 1-800-MEDICARE, 24 hours a day

Use them alongside us rather than instead of us if you like. The difference is that a counselor can explain your options and we can actually enroll you, and neither of us charges you anything.

Choosing between our Medicare agent offices

Call whichever is closest, or the toll-free number if none of them is. The license that matters is the one held in the state where you live, not the location of the desk, and we hold licenses well beyond the four cities the Medicare agent offices sit in.

What genuinely helps any of our Medicare agent offices is knowing your county before you call, because plan availability is set at county level and two addresses in the same metropolitan area can see different plan menus. Beyond that, have your Medicare number, a list of your prescriptions with doses, and the names of the doctors and hospitals you want to keep. That is enough for us to narrow a county’s worth of plans down to a short list in a single conversation.

We do not charge for any of it. Our Medicare agent offices are paid by the insurance company when you enroll, at rates that Medicare itself caps, and those caps are set so that the payment does not vary in a way that would push you toward one plan over another. You can ask us what we are paid on any plan we show you, and we will tell you.

That answer does not change between our Medicare agent offices, and it does not change between the plans we put in front of you, which is rather the point of asking an independent agency rather than a single carrier. If the number ever looks like it is steering the recommendation, say so and we will walk you through the arithmetic.
