What the company offers

United American's official website centers its senior-market presentation on Medicare Supplement insurance. A Medigap policy works alongside Original Medicare Parts A and B. It can help pay some Medicare-approved deductibles, copayments or coinsurance according to the standardized plan letter selected and the policy terms.

The carrier also describes whole life, cancer, critical illness, accident and other supplemental health products. These policies solve different problems. A cancer policy may pay specified benefits after a covered diagnosis or treatment; an accident policy may pay according to covered injuries; whole life provides a death benefit subject to the contract. None becomes Part of Medicare simply because it is sold by the same insurer.

United American is part of the Globe Life corporate family, but the policy should name its actual underwriting company. Corporate ownership does not make one affiliate's product available through another.

Four concise answers

United American offers Medicare Supplement, not Medicare Advantage. Its Medigap policy supplements Original Medicare; it does not replace Parts A and B with a private Part C plan.

Medigap has no prescription benefit in modern standardized plans. A beneficiary usually considers a separate stand-alone Part D plan for outpatient prescriptions.

Plan letters do not have identical prices. Benefits for the same standardized letter are generally standardized, but premiums, underwriting, discounts and service can differ by insurer and state.

Availability is state-specific. The official United American process asks for location and personal eligibility information because plan letters and issue rules vary.

Medicare Supplement and Original Medicare

Original Medicare Part A helps cover inpatient hospital care; Part B helps cover medical and outpatient care. Medicare pays first for Medicare-approved services, and a Medigap policy can then pay eligible cost sharing according to its standardized benefits. A provider that accepts Medicare generally does not need to join a United American Medigap network because Medigap is not network-based coverage.

Standardized plan letters make comparison easier, but details matter. Plan G from one insurer generally has the same standardized medical benefits as Plan G from another, yet premiums, rate history, household discounts, application rules and customer service may differ. Massachusetts, Minnesota and Wisconsin standardize Medigap differently, so the familiar lettered comparison does not apply in the same way there.

People newly eligible for Medicare on or after January 1, 2020 generally cannot purchase plans that cover the Part B deductible, including Plans C and F. Eligibility does not mean the plan is offered by United American in the applicant's state.

Medigap open enrollment usually begins when a person is both age 65 or older and enrolled in Part B, and lasts six months. Outside guaranteed-issue protections, medical underwriting may apply in many states. State-specific birthday, anniversary or continuous/open-enrollment rules may provide other opportunities. An agent can explain known rules but the insurer makes the underwriting decision.

Part D, Extra Help and assistance programs

2026 Medicare costs: Part A premium free with 40 quarters and a $1,736 deductible per benefit period, Part B at $202.90 a month with a $283 deductible, and Part D capped at $2,100 a year with a maximum $615 deductible.
What Medicare costs in 2026

United American's modern Medicare Supplement policies do not provide outpatient prescription drug coverage. A beneficiary who needs drug coverage can compare a stand-alone Part D plan from a Medicare-approved PDP carrier. The drug plan has its own premium, formulary, pharmacy network and coverage rules.

Low-Income Subsidy and Extra Help are the same federal program. Eligible beneficiaries may receive help with Part D premiums, deductibles and prescription cost sharing. Medicare Savings Programs are administered by states and may assist with certain Medicare costs. These programs are not United American policy benefits, and the government determines eligibility.

United American is not documented here as offering D-SNP, C-SNP or I-SNP products. Those are Medicare Advantage Special Needs Plans and should be compared through verified MA carriers by county and eligibility.

No giveback or flex-card claim

A Part B premium reduction and a Medicare Advantage flex card are Part C plan features. Because United American's verified Medicare product is Medigap—not Medicare Advantage—this page does not advertise either as a United American benefit. Likewise, MA dental, vision, hearing, fitness, food, utility, transportation or OTC packages should not be attached to a Medigap policy.

Veterans and United American Medicare Supplement

VA health care, TRICARE and Medicare are separate. A Medicare Supplement policy does not replace VA or TRICARE benefits. Veterans should consider where they receive non-VA care, how prescriptions are filled, emergency coverage and whether adding Part D makes sense alongside creditable military drug coverage.

People with TRICARE for Life should confirm Medigap or Part D choices with TRICARE before enrolling. A Medigap premium may provide little value for costs already coordinated through TRICARE for Life, depending on the person's circumstances. The VA and TRICARE should answer questions about military benefits.

United American's non-Medicare policies

Whole life insurance may provide a permanent death benefit and cash value, subject to premiums and contract terms. Families may compare it for final expenses or legacy goals.

Cancer and critical illness coverage may pay specified benefits after covered diagnoses or treatments. Definitions, waiting periods, exclusions, recurrences and benefit schedules require close review.

Accident and supplemental health coverage may help with expenses after a covered event. Fixed or scheduled payments are not the same as paying the full medical bill.

These policies are not Original Medicare, Medicare Advantage, Part D, Medigap or comprehensive individual health insurance unless the contract explicitly says so.

How we narrow United American Medicare Supplement

A licensed O'Neal Insurance Group agent can help you compare insurance companies and plans currently available in your ZIP code and state. The comparison may include plan letters, premiums, rate methods, household discounts, underwriting questions, prescription-drug options and separate life or supplemental coverage.

The agency's United American appointment was not verified through public sources. Before using the approved carrier-specific agent wording or submitting an application, confirm James O'Neal's state license, carrier appointment and product authority. The insurer—not the agent—decides underwriting, and government agencies decide assistance-program eligibility.

Seven steps to compare United American Medicare Supplement

  1. Confirm Medicare Part A and Part B effective dates and the applicable enrollment or guaranteed-issue period.
  2. Check whether Medicaid, a Medicare Savings Program or Extra Help may be relevant.
  3. Enter the permanent residence and state in current carrier and Medicare tools.
  4. List providers, pharmacies and prescriptions, especially when comparing Part D separately.
  5. Identify VA, TRICARE, employer, union and retiree coverage.
  6. Compare standardized benefits, premiums, rating method, discounts, underwriting, exclusions and rate-change history.
  7. Read the outline of coverage, policy and Part D documents before applying.

How to compare United American Medicare Supplement against the alternatives

No carrier is the right answer for everybody, and that includes United American Medicare Supplement. What decides it is your own doctors, your own prescriptions and how you prefer to pay, in that order.

Start with your providers. Check every physician you want to keep against the plan directory, and confirm the medical group as well as the individual name. That single step rules United American Medicare Supplement in or out faster than any brochure will.

Then price your prescriptions. Two plans with an identical premium can differ by thousands of dollars a year once your real drug list is run against each formulary. Ask specifically about tiers, step therapy and prior authorization.

Then look at the ceiling, not the premium. Every Medicare Advantage plan carries an annual out-of-pocket maximum; Original Medicare on its own does not. That ceiling is the real protection, and it varies by thousands of dollars between plans.

Commissions are set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and are identical across carriers for the same product line. An independent agent comparing United American Medicare Supplement with everything else available in your county therefore has no financial reason to favor one over another.

What 2026 changes for United American Medicare Supplement

Two federal rules apply to every Part D policy this year, United American Medicare Supplement included, whether standalone or bundled inside a Medicare Advantage plan. No plan may charge a drug deductible above $615, and once you have spent $2,100 out of pocket on covered drugs your cost for the rest of the calendar year drops to zero.

The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread that $2,100 across monthly installments instead of facing a large bill in January. It is worth asking about if your medications are expensive early in the year.

What still changes annually is the detail: networks, formularies, copays and supplemental benefits. The Annual Notice of Change your carrier sends by September 30 is where those changes are disclosed, and it is the document to read before deciding whether to keep United American Medicare Supplement for another year.

Enrollment windows that apply to United American Medicare Supplement

Calendar showing the Medicare Annual Enrollment Period from 15 October to 7 December, Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment and General Enrollment from 1 January to 31 March, and the seven-month Initial Enrollment Period around your 65th birthday.
The four Medicare enrollment windows

The windows below govern United American Medicare Supplement exactly as they govern every other Medicare Advantage and Part D plan. They are federal, not carrier-specific, and no salesperson can extend one for you.

Initial Enrollment Period. Seven months centred on the month you turn 65 — the three months before, the birthday month itself, and the three months after. Part B and Part D late penalties are permanent, so this is the window that costs money to miss.

Annual Enrollment, October 15 to December 7. Open to everyone on Medicare. Whatever you choose takes effect on January 1.

Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment, January 1 to March 31. One change only, and only if you are already enrolled in an Advantage plan.

Special Enrollment Periods. Moving out of a plan’s service area, losing employer coverage, entering or leaving a nursing home, or gaining or losing Medicaid each open a window outside the normal calendar.

Quick answers about United American Medicare Supplement

Do United American Medicare Supplement include prescription drug coverage?

Most Medicare Advantage plans bundle Part D, but not all of them do, and the formulary matters more than the fact of inclusion. Check each of your medications by name and dose before assuming United American Medicare Supplement cover what you take.
