Medicare plans Biloxi residents can enroll in for 2026 fall into three groups: Original Medicare paired with a Medigap policy, Medicare Advantage, and standalone Part D prescription drug coverage. Which of the Medicare plans Biloxi carriers offer are open to you depends on the county of your permanent address, not the city name on your post.
Medicare plans Biloxi residents can compare
Biloxi hosts the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System and Keesler Air Force Base, so questions about combining VA or TRICARE coverage with Medicare come up more often here than almost anywhere else in the state.
You can meet by phone or online screen sharing rather than traveling anywhere. Call (228) 641-2323 to talk through your options with a licensed agent.
Harrison County decides what you can enroll in
Medicare Advantage and Part D plans are approved county by county, not statewide. Biloxi sits in Harrison County, and your permanent address is what determines the plans you are eligible to join. Confirm whether your address falls in Harrison or Jackson County, because availability can differ across that line.
Check your doctors and hospitals first
Care around Biloxi is concentrated in a small number of systems, including Memorial Hospital Biloxi, which Memorial Health System acquired from Community Health Systems in January 2025 and which older directories still list as Merit Health Biloxi, along with Memorial Hospital at Gulfport and the Gulf Coast Veterans Health Care System. Participation changes from year to year and can differ between two plans from the same insurer, so confirm your own doctors and preferred hospital directly with the plan and with the provider office before you enroll.
Veterans and military retirees
VA care, TRICARE For Life and Medicare interact in specific ways, and the right answer differs depending on where you actually receive treatment. If you use the VA in Biloxi or have TRICARE For Life, say so early — it changes which options make sense and can change whether a Medicare Advantage plan is a good fit at all.
What to have ready
- Your Medicare number and your Part A and Part B start dates.
- Your permanent Biloxi ZIP code.
- Every doctor and specialist you want to keep.
- Every prescription, with exact dosage and frequency.
- Any Medicaid, Extra Help, VA or employer coverage you already have.
Enrollment periods that apply
Most people can change plans during the Annual Enrollment Period each autumn, effective January 1. If you are already in a Medicare Advantage plan, a further window early in the year lets you switch once or return to Original Medicare. Special Enrollment Periods may apply if you move, lose other coverage, or gain or lose Medicaid. Moving into or out of Biloxi is itself a qualifying event worth asking about.
Look past the premium when comparing Medicare plans Biloxi offers

A zero-dollar premium does not mean zero cost. Compare the annual out-of-pocket maximum, specialist and hospital copays, and how each of your prescriptions is tiered on that plan's formulary. For most people it is the drug tiers and the out-of-pocket ceiling, not the premium, that decide what a plan really costs over a year.
Free help, and your other options
You can get free, unbiased counseling from your State Health Insurance Assistance Program (SHIP), and you can compare every plan yourself at Medicare.gov or by calling 1-800-MEDICARE. We are always happy to be one of the options you weigh rather than the only one.

The four parts behind the Medicare plans Biloxi offers

Every plan you will be shown is built from the same four federal building blocks. Knowing which is which makes the rest of the comparison much easier.
Part A covers inpatient hospital stays, skilled nursing care, hospice and some home health. Most people pay no premium for it, because they or a spouse paid Medicare taxes for at least 40 quarters.
Part B covers outpatient care, doctor visits, lab work and preventive services. It carries a monthly premium and a late-enrollment penalty that lasts for life, so the timing of your enrollment matters more than most people expect.
Part C is Medicare Advantage. A private carrier takes over your Part A and Part B benefits and usually adds drug coverage plus extras such as dental, vision and hearing. Most of the Medicare plans Biloxi residents actually enroll in are Part C plans, because the local market is competitive.
Part D is prescription drug coverage, sold either as a standalone policy alongside Original Medicare or bundled inside an Advantage plan.
The alternative route is Original Medicare paired with a Medicare Supplement, or Medigap, policy. That costs more each month, has no network at all, and leaves you very little to pay when you actually use care.
Mississippi has no Medigap birthday rule

This is the single most important piece of timing information for anyone in Mississippi weighing Original Medicare against Medicare Advantage, and it is the one most often left out.
Several states give Medicare Supplement policyholders an annual window to switch policies without answering health questions. Mississippi is not one of them.
Your one unconditional opportunity to buy a Medigap policy is the six-month Medigap Open Enrollment Period that begins the month you turn 65 and are enrolled in Part B. During those six months a carrier must sell you any policy it offers at its standard rate, whatever your health history.
After that window closes, and outside a guaranteed-issue right, a Mississippi carrier may underwrite you: ask health questions, charge more, or decline you altogether.
That asymmetry is worth understanding before you choose. You can leave a Medicare Advantage plan for Original Medicare during the annual window, but nothing obliges a Medigap carrier to accept you when you apply.
Free, unbiased counseling is available from the Mississippi Division of Aging and Adult Services on (601) 359-4956 or (888) 240-7539, and the Mississippi Insurance Department publishes Medigap rate comparisons and takes complaints on (800) 562-2957.
What prescription coverage costs in 2026
Drug coverage is where choices among the Medicare plans Biloxi offers most often go wrong. No plan is good or bad for drugs in general — it is good or bad for your particular list.
The 2026 rules help everyone. No Part D plan may charge a deductible above $615, and once you have spent $2,100 out of pocket on covered drugs your cost for the rest of the calendar year drops to zero. The Medicare Prescription Payment Plan lets you spread that amount across monthly installments rather than facing a large bill in January.
What still varies is the formulary. Check three things for every medication you take: whether the drug is covered at all, which tier it sits on, and whether the plan demands step therapy or prior authorization before it will pay.
If your income is limited, Extra Help through Social Security can cut premiums and copays substantially. A great many people who qualify never apply, and checking costs nothing.
How we narrow the Medicare plans Biloxi offers
A licensed agent’s job is to make the list shorter, not longer. Three questions do most of the work.
Your doctors. We check every physician you want to keep against each plan’s directory, and confirm the medical group as well as the individual name. This alone eliminates most of the Medicare plans Biloxi carriers sell.
Your prescriptions. Two plans with an identical premium can differ by thousands of dollars a year once your real drug list is priced against each formulary.
How you prefer to pay. Medicare Advantage keeps the monthly cost low and charges you as you use care. Medigap reverses that. Neither is better in the abstract; it depends on your budget and your tolerance for an unexpected bill.
Commissions are set by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and are identical across carriers for the same product line, so an independent broker comparing the Medicare plans Biloxi carriers file has no financial reason to steer you toward any one of them. Our help costs you nothing.
Hospital names behind Medicare plans Biloxi offers have changed
This is the most practical thing to know before comparing Medicare plans Biloxi residents can join, because network participation follows the current owner rather than the name on an old directory.
Memorial Health System completed its acquisition of Merit Health Biloxi on January 31, 2025, and the hospital is now Memorial Hospital Biloxi. Community Health Systems, the for-profit company that owned it, has left the coast entirely.
Memorial Health System is jointly owned by Harrison County and the City of Gulfport, and runs three hospitals — Gulfport, Biloxi and Stone County — with 481 licensed beds and a state-designated Level II trauma center.
The other coast system is Singing River, owned by Jackson County. It operates Ocean Springs Hospital, the Pascagoula hospital, and Singing River Gulfport — which it bought from HCA in 2020 and which older directories still list under its former name, Garden Park Medical Center.
Net effect: the Mississippi coast is now served almost entirely by two county-connected non-profit systems. That is unusual, and it tends to make network questions simpler here than in a market with several competing for-profit chains. It does not make them automatic.
What that means for checking Medicare plans Biloxi carriers file
A carrier can contract differently with a hospital, its employed physicians, independent specialists practising inside it, and its outpatient locations. A hospital appearing in a network does not confirm that the consultant you see there does.
So name your own doctors and have each checked against the plan’s current directory, not last year’s. After an ownership change that advice is not pedantry — contracts get renegotiated when systems change hands.
Medicare plans Biloxi offers sit in an evenly split county
CMS enrollment data for May 2026 puts Harrison County at 47,300 Medicare beneficiaries, with 23,783 in Original Medicare and 23,517 in a Medicare Advantage or other private plan. That is almost exactly an even split, at about 49.7 percent private.
Mississippi as a whole runs at 45.3 percent, so Harrison sits more than four points above its own state and close to the national figure of 51.2 percent. Neighbouring Jackson County, across the bay, runs slightly higher at 51.3 percent.
A near even split means genuine competition on both sides. Advantage plans compete for a substantial share, and Medicare Supplement quotes remain worth getting rather than assumed out of reach. It is one of the more competitive Medicare markets in the state, which also means more year-to-year change in what plans cover.
About 9,220 Harrison County beneficiaries — roughly 19.5 percent, or one in five — are dual eligible. That is well above the collar-county pattern elsewhere and worth checking against if your income is anywhere near the limits.
The 2026 limits
The Medicare Savings Programs pay the Part B premium and, at the top level, deductibles and coinsurance too: about $1,350 a month for one person and $1,824 for a couple in 2026, with countable resources up to $9,950 and $14,910. Extra Help cuts prescription costs, with income limits near $23,940 and $32,460.
Your home, your car and certain burial funds generally do not count. People rule themselves out on a guess far more often than they are actually ruled out.
Medicare plans Biloxi offers stop at the county line
Plans are approved county by county. Biloxi is in Harrison County; cross the bay to Ocean Springs and you are in Jackson County, with a different plan menu. The drive is about twenty minutes.
If you are moving across that line, it is a qualifying event that opens a Special Enrollment Period — and it changes which of the Medicare plans Biloxi carriers file remain open to you.
Mississippi gives no second chance on Medigap
Several states run a birthday or anniversary rule letting you switch Medicare Supplement policies each year without health questions. Mississippi has neither.
You get the federal minimum: one six-month open enrollment beginning when you are both 65 and enrolled in Part B, plus a short list of guaranteed-issue situations. After that an application is medically underwritten and can be declined.
Two one-time federal trial rights are the exception. If you joined a Medicare Advantage plan when first eligible at 65, or dropped a supplement to try Advantage for the first time, you may return without health questions provided you act within twelve months and apply no more than 63 days after that coverage ends.
What comparing Medicare plans Biloxi offers costs you
Nothing. We are paid by the insurer only if you enroll, at rates Medicare caps so the payment does not vary between plans in a way that would steer the recommendation. Mississippi SHIP gives free counseling with nothing to sell on 844-822-4622, and the Mississippi Insurance Department takes complaints about any agent, including us, on 800-562-2957.
When to review the Medicare plans Biloxi carriers file
Plan details for the coming year are published on October 1 and Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7. Early October is the best time to look: the data is complete, early corrections have landed, and appointments are not yet scarce.
Given the recent ownership changes among coast hospitals, the network check is the part of that review most worth doing carefully this year rather than assuming last year’s answer still holds.
